creative brief!

Project: Wine Bottle and Package

Redesign: Falling Star Chardonnay

Objective:

Falling Star is a fairly cheap bottle of wine from Argentina. The current design is a simple label that has a cliché image of a shooting star with the tag line “make a wish” under it. There is nothing terribly wrong with the label, but I can see many other directions the simple shooting star can be taken.

I want to steer away from the “shooting star” aspect of the name and work off of the “falling” component. My idea is to make a figure of a human, either realistically or abstractly, and have it fall across the front of the bottle. The figures motion will be captured by outlines of its ending position concluding in a solid figure. The outlines of the figure will be three different colors from the Argentinean flag; gold, yellow, and light blue. The name Falling Star will be placed inside the figure or in one of the top corners of the bottle. The only place there will be a star, if there is one, will be on the top of the cork, or on the package design.

For the package I want to work with a tube made from either recycled material or some form of metal. I will cut some form out of the tube that allows you to see the name of the bottle, possibly the figure that is falling on the bottle. The box will be either vary simple and clean with only white and black, or it will use the outlined shape from the inside design to create a pattern that covers the whole outside of the tube. Both will relate well with each other to make it a consistent piece.
